Founded by luminaries from the travel industry, Uplift is a well-financed Series B startup that provides point-of-sale financing for consumer travel. The consumer travel segment is a $1 Trillion global market that is under-financed relative to other key consumer verticals.

The Vendor Relationship Manager is responsible for a broad and critical role. In this position, you will help manage costs and enable profitability for the company. You will be instrumental in enabling services that support our products, our customers, our business partners, and our employees. The desired candidate is energized by building meaningful, long term relationships with our vendors and business partners. In addition to functional excellence in Vendor Management, you will provide leadership and work across Uplift teams to drive efficiency into all aspects of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Manage vendor relationships including vendor selection, contract negotiation, integration, operation, renewal and termination
  • Define vendor requirements and selection criteria to comprehensively evaluate and select new vendors
  • Negotiate fair agreement terms on Uplift’s behalf
  • Identify and track operational metrics to monitor vendor performance; ensure requirements are met balancing cost, quality, productivity, and effectiveness
  • Anticipate contractual agreement renewals and expirations to allow for sufficient time for re-selection, re-negotiation, and transitions
  • Sufficiently plan vendor terminations to ensure operations are not disrupted during transitions or expansions
  • Coordinate all vendor management tasks and communication between vendors and internal teams
  • Facilitate communication and troubleshooting with relevant parties for all vendor related problems
  • Drive steady process enhancements to increase operational efficiency in the full business partner lifecycle
  • Keen ability to distinguish internal versus external problem causes to properly focus the correct resources to resolve the issues quickly
  • Exceptional prioritization skills to ensure timely resolutions that are appropriate for the severity and impact of the situation

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with vendor management
  • Sharp, motivated, and entrepreneurial
  • Fierce yet fair in negotiations
  • Comfortable working in a startup culture with the ability to earn trust
  • Ability to work in the United States without employee sponsorship
  • Position can be based from Menlo Park or SF
