As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for integrating the Uplift platform with financial operation technologies and developing internal products to manage financial operations. You will be involved in API integrations to external partners that span traditional financial service providers with legacy interfaces to emerging technologies that are providing novel and industry changing capabilities. The right candidate will possess the ability to recognize opportunities to improve operational efficiency and develop creative solutions. Improvements range from cost and time savings to strategic initiatives to build valuable new capabilities into the core platform.

Responsibilities

  • Drive project completion and engineering team operations by working with cross-functional teams, defining road maps and delivering high-quality solutions for our customers
  • Understand business needs, objectives, and opportunities in order to lead development of the financial operations platform
  • Evaluate, select, integrate, and manage financial service systems
  • Actively follow industry trends and developments in terms of legacy technology, emerging services and regulatory compliance
  • Establish teams that can deliver fast and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver based on the evolving needs of the business
  • Responsible for mentoring and coaching a highly skilled set of software developers to grow their careers and manage their deliverables
  • Ensure that the solutions developed are technically sound by leading design and having the ability to deep dive into the code and algorithms that your team owns and develop
  • Effectively communicate technical and business risks to stakeholders to ensure that the most informed decisions are being made
  • Ensure a high level of technical quality by participating in design and architectural discussions with the team

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing teams of 8 or more engineers
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent. Master’s degree a plus
  • Must have domain expertise with lending platforms and/or Point of Sale
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience as a software developer
  • Passion for coaching and mentoring to help individuals grow professionally and technically
  • Working experience and knowledge of Java or Python, React, Spring/SpringBoot, building APIs and services
  • Experience in leading, building, and scaling secure services with one or more cloud providers (AWS preferred)
  • Financial systems and operational domain knowledge in lending, banking technologies, money movement and processing transactions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in supporting and building solutions to enable business scale and automation
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, persistence and detail oriented
  • Comfortable working in a startup culture with the ability to demonstrate value and earn trust
