ICE HAWKS GET 2ND SHUTOUT OF SEASON
This turned out to be quite a game....
The Outlaws came to this game short skaters and a goalie. So the Predators goalie
got his chance to play for the Outlaws. The Outlaws bench only had two subs, a total of 7 guys... So when
the Ice Hawks saw this they thought, "We've got this one!" But the Ice Hawks soon found out
that they had to earn this one...
The Outlaws came out shooting right from the beginning! The Ice Hawks were caught off guard!
The Ice Hawks were only able to get 3 shots on net in the first period. While the Outlaws were able to 13 shots
on G Bart,
who by the way was looking for the puck behind him on the first shot of the game, but some how the
puck had deflected wide off his leg pad.
At the first intermission, as the team gathered at the bench there was silence... With
16 M. Lachtanski out of the lineup
we were waiting for some words of wisdom... Finally someone asked , what would
16 M. Lachtanski
be telling us right now... KEEP THE PUCK MOVING, CONTINUE TO FORECHECK, WE MUST WEAR THESE GUYS
OUT, THEY SHOULD BE TIRED SOON, WE HOPE!
The Ice Hawks had to turn it on, and they did. Still scoreless through the 2nd period,
the Ice Hawks were taking it to the Outlaws, with 17 shots on net to the Outlaws 7 shots... Finally the Ice Hawks had
caught up with the Outlaws with 20 shots for each team.
Well with the same pep talk at the intermission, the Ice Hawks slowly wore
down the depleted Outlaws. You could see it in the Outlaws play, they were dumping the puck and
hanging back... Their fore checking had vanished. This allowed
73 Stebbins to net the first goal,
assisted by 12 Ross
and
22 Arsenault then again with two minutes left
73 Stebbins was to get his second
of the game assisted by
45 Crosthwaite. The Ice Hawks definitely had to earn this one,
as the Outlaws surprised us with their great play...
