ICE HAWKS ROUND UP OUTLAWS
Icehawks Round Up Outlaws.... and hung a 3-1 defeat
on them. "Hang down your hat, Tom Dooley..." The
2 goal decision over the Outlaws is the largest margin of victory we
have had with them, ....for those of you who find that kind of minutia
enlightening. Mr.
73 Stebbins, who is becoming quite the scorer the past
few games, netted a rebound for our first goal while
22 Arsenault was
sprawled out inspecting the ice in the crease. The ice, by the way, had
no visible cracks or any unnatural deviations from a normal playing
surface from what Steve could see.
44 Young got the game winner from a
face off in their zone.
44 Young
showed some restraint by foregoing his intimidating slapper and
went with the wrist shot to beat the goalie low stick side. I guess he
actually wanted to get his shot on net. In the second period the
Outlaws got one back to tighten the match but thanks to our favorite ice
pirate, Joe "Arrrgh, where's my eye patch, Matey?"
26 Balboa who snuck one
past their goalie on a one on one breakaway, we once again had a
"comfortable" 2 goal lead.
Some notables notes for the game. 9 Arakaki's hands on lesson in Kinetics.
Did you see the writing on the wall you hit in the second period?
Ouch!! 1 Wu
got 6 minutes in the bad boy box, but you still
aren't a bad boy yet when you get corralled for such grievous acts as
being mathematically challenge (Too Many Men On The Ice) and pretending
to be a rock hound looking for fossils (Whatever they called when you
picked up the puck, examined it then put it back down).
12 Ross's point
streak ending at 1 game. Phil's abusing women on ice streak ends at 1
game (there were none on their team). Bart's GAA dropping like (insert
simile here). Gary honoring former Icehawk great, Craig Pekarek by
doing a faux demi-Pekarek during the game while Craig was watching him.
(It is more than likely Craig was watching to make sure Mike L. didn't
break any of the sticks he so selflessly lent him for the game) For
those uninitiated to the term "Pekarek", the definitions are as
follows: A Grand Pekarek is when a player takes the puck into the zone
and completely circumnavigates the net (no that is not a Jewish ritual)
counterclockwise and ends up at the opposite point. The head must be
down at all times and no attempts to pass can occur. A demi-Pekarek is
when after circumnavigating the net you lose it on your way to the
point. A quarter-Pekarek is when you lose the puck when behind the
net. A "faux" Pekarek can occur anytime you deviate from the true
definition of the term and actually pass the puck or look up.
Editors Note: This definition and all future definitions that refer to
players past and present are not meant to be mean spirited or
denigrating. We all have our quirks on the ice and taking the liberty
to exploit them are all in jest. Some people are just more fun to jest
than others.....
As usual, we all looked to James to distribute the puck and we weren't
disappointed as he registered 3 assists to lead all scorers....AGAIN!!
