"Wow this game is fun!"
The Ice Hawks took on the Dragons head on with both teams playing a
very tight first period. Both teams were playing very good defense and the
Ice Hawks actually had some really good chances in the first period,
including 3 Kopp
hitting the POST twice! TINK! TINK!
The Ice Hawks were first to score in the second period with a slapper
from 3 Kopp that
rebounded right to 53 Dvorak's stick who scored with the
rising shot past the Dragon's goalie. Wow look at Scottie go! He sure can
skate! He even scored! Alright Scottie!
The Dragons came back with one of their faster
skaters, cycling the puck around the faceoff dot on
97 Masukawa's right side.
#28 of the Dragons got a good 5 hole shot that sank right into the net.
During the third period the Ice Hawks got a little sloppy, with three
penalties, including 18 McFarland
's cross-check on a "Dragon Chick" in front of
our net. Boy, did she go flying!
Then 44 Young and a Dragon both bolted for the
puck. If 44 Young had fallen he
wouldn't of gotten the call but at least 44 Young was
nice enough to ask the limp body
lying on the ice if he was ok.
With three minutes left, the refs squeezed in another penalty on the
Hawks calling (wimpy) tripping on 53 Dvorak. The
Dragons foamed at the
mouth and scored a Powerplay goal in a 2 on 1.
We missed that familiar "encouragement" from 22 Arsenault on the bench when this
happened. We hope that he had a good golf game...
Then the enemy got excited and got called for having too many
Dragons on the ice, which led to 25 Pekarek's Game Tying Goal from a sweet feed
from 18 McFarland,
with 50 Ow distracting
the goalie and the Defensemen right in
front of the their net... The game would finally end with a 2-2 tie and the Dragons out shooting the Hawks 28-22.
Special recognition goes to 97 Masukawa
who did an excellent job in goal, with a
93% save percentage for the game and 10 Lagemann
returning from the IL!
