Game 7
Polars Stars Give Hawks The Cold Shoulder
After Tuesday nightıs 5-0 lashing by the Polar Stars, the Ice Hawks are virtually assured of missing the playoffs for the first time in four seasons. Injuries and no-shows forced the Hawks to go with a makeshift lineup, but there was no excuse for the substandard effort. Left unprotected for most of the contest, Hawks goalie Tim Christ weathered a staggering 44 shots on goal.

The Hawks looked competitive early but three Stars goals within the last 7 minutes of first period effectively broke the game open. Down 3-0, the Hawks started pressing on offense—which led to numerous odd man rushes for the Stars. Although the Stars dominated the second period, Tim Christ kept the score respectable by fending off a barrage of shots (19) on goal.

The third period featured two goals from ex-Ice Hawk James Kucera and an altercation between Stars bad boy Jugs Larson and Hawks defenseman Scott Grebe. Both players received game misconducts with Larson ending up with 5 penalties for the night.
