The 1998 Summer Season
Game 2, May 31
Hawks Stumble at the Second Game of the Season
It began as a close game. The Ice Dogs, loaded with their new team additions, skated like Rockets and we had to play hard like dogs to keep up with them. The first period was so close. It was tough as both teams battled for the puck. Halfway through, the Ice Dogs picked up a goal and made the game 1-0. Second period became a slam-fest as frustrated players (who had plenty of scoring chances), turned to physical play to get back into the game. The Ice Dogs were able to put their second goal in the net with a 2 on 1 odd man break as the Ice Hawks forwards were late in the backcheck. As the clock slowly ticked forward, the game seemed to be flying by and we were still getting shots but no goals. The Ice Dogs scored again in the third, changing the score to 3-0, but not for long as PEKAREK (KOWALCZYK) was able to slam one in from the boards with ARAKAKI screening the goalie.. But it wasn't enough as the Ice Dogs finished the game with 4-1.
